About Us

The Glide Revitalization Skilled Trades Scholarship is an initiative aimed at supporting the next generation of skilled trade professionals from Glide High School. The scholarship, valued at $1,500, is designed to assist students and alumni pursuing trade programs in fields such as construction, welding, electrical work, mechanics, plumbing, technician work, and related disciplines.

Eligibility

Applicants of The Glide Revitalization Skilled Trades Scholarship award must:

  • Be residents of Douglas County upon applying.
  • Be Glide High School seniors, graduates, or alumni.
  1. Plan to enroll or are enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year college or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming f academic year.
  • Majoring in a trade construction, industrial, motor/power sector, mechanics, or technology degree/certificate, which includes but are not limited to the f. following fields:
  • Automotive Technology
  • Aviation Technology
  • Carpentry
  • Construction
  • Diesel Technology
  • Electrical Technology
  • Fire Science
  • Heavy Equipment Operation
  • HVAC
  • Machinery
  • Manufacturing
  • Pipefitting
  • Plumbing
  • Welding

Individuals pursuing degrees/certificates in service industries such as culinary arts, cosmetology, or hospitality are ineligible.

Awards

Award Information:

  • If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $1,500 award
  • Up to two awards will be granted
  • Awards are renewable. Past recipients may re-apply
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only

Notification

You will be notified of the status of your application in March. Not all applicants to the program will be selected to advance to the interview stage. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Trade essay (Less than 500 words)
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience & Extracurricular background
  • Statement of career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • Consideration of academic record

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken
