Wildfire Preparedness and Response

Education, Tools, and Resources to Support our Community Before and After Wildfires

In most disasters like wildfires there is a reactive stance. Resources are focused on responding to needs after the fire has started and is threatening communities instead of investing in forest management practices or community preparedness initiatives beforehand.

The Archie Creek Fire taught us the importance of having an organization with both the experience and ability to plan ahead as well as respond during and after a fire. Glide Revitalization has developed a plan to support our community with education on wildfire preparedness and services to support them during and after disasters.

In addition to our fire mitigation and long term response services, we’re focused on empowering our community members with the education needed to protect themselves and their homes. If disaster does strike, we’re ready to help them recover quickly with assistance from basic needs to full home replacement.

Our wildfire preparedness and response services include:

  • Preparedness workshops for residents to help them understand what is needed to prepare for a wildfire or other disaster. We focus on how to create a defensible space around homes and properties to reduce potential loss and damage from future fires.
  • Partnerships with local, state, and federal programs including Habitat for Humanity for home replacement and essential repairs. We’ve been able to help with the construction of sheds, pump houses, decks, and ramps to meet the needs of our community.
  • Survivor assistance including food, housing, replacement of lost documents, household bills, and home or property repair. This is done through the generous donations and grants from our supporters.
