Glide Revitalization Skilled Trades Scholarship

The Glide Revitalization Skilled Trades Scholarship is an initiative aimed at supporting the next generation of skilled trade professionals from Glide High School. The scholarship, valued at $1,500, is designed to assist students and alumni pursuing trade programs in fields such as construction, welding, electrical work, mechanics, plumbing, technician work, and related disciplines.

About the Scholarship

This scholarship is named the “Glide Revitalization Skilled Trade Scholarship” to honor the rich history of trade professionals and the past timber industry of Glide, Oregon.

Scholarship Requirements

  • Be residents of Douglas County upon applying.
  • Be Glide High School seniors, graduates, or alumni.
  • Plan to enroll or are enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year college or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Majoring in a trade construction, industrial, motor/power sector, mechanics, or technology degree/certificate, which includes but are not limited to the following fields: Automotive Technology, Aviation Technology, Carpentry, Construction, Diesel Technology, Electrical Technology, Fire Science, Heavy Equipment Operation, HVAC, Machinery, Manufacturing, Pipefitting, Plumbing, Welding.
  • Individuals pursuing degrees/certificates in service industries such as culinary arts, cosmetology, or hospitality are ineligible.
  • Trade essay (Fewer than 500 words)
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience & Extracurricular background
  • Statement of career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • Consideration of academic record
  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display the student name, school name, grades, and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

Award & Notification

Applicants will be notified of the status of their application in March. Not all applicants to the program will be selected to advance to the interview stage. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

  • If selected, the recipient will receive a $1,500 award
  • Up to two awards will be granted per year
  • Awards are renewable. Past recipients may re-apply
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only
